When small piece of camphor is drop on clean surface of water then they dissolve in water.

The surface tension of solution is relatively less than the pure water. Because the shape of camphor pieces is irregular therefore one part of camphor dissolve more than the other side. Therefore the pieces of camphor pulls towards the area of excess surface tension. Where these pieces go the same incident occurs. Therefore it moves on the surface of water.
